Hello everyone! I’m new to the forum so I thought I would introduce myself here first before randomly just popping up elsewhere.
For now, I’m going by my middle name and last initial, Lucien G. I’m not quite ready to declare to the internet my vampiricness haha. Someday perhaps.
Discovering I was a born vampire was a long process for me. I probably would have figured it out sooner had I not been sucked into a cult in high school, but what can you do. It was around this same time that I started having much stronger symptoms than I ever had previously. For example, I have always had issues with the Sun and as a very very young child would even have seizures from too much sun exposure. Luckily, it was a only a few times and I grew out of that, but my sensitivity never fully went away. I would get lightheaded, headaches, severe sunburns CONSTANTLY, you name it. However, it wasn’t till I was in high school that it started getting even worse, with even indoor lights starting to bother me. It was getting so bad that even with the darkest transition lenses available, I would have tears running down my face during marching band practice because it was just too bright outside and my eyes would be burning. At one point, we had to play for a college football game at 2pm and I frequently had to leave my drum to seek shade. I ended up with such a severe sunburn on my face (from both direct sunlight and the reflection off my white drum head, as I played marching snare), that my entire face swelled up, blistered, and then instead of peeling in thin layers like a normal sunburn would, it literally turned brown and came off in CHUNKS. Luckily, I couldn’t really feel it as I think it may have also fried my nerves, but I had a lot of concerned people asking if it hurt. I mean, after it healed my skin looked fantastic because it burned off all the acne and freckles I had at the time just like a strong chemical peel, but I like not having skin cancer so I’ve been much more careful since then. Wear sunscreen folks! Spf 100 is the only thing that works fully for me. 50 gives me a false sense of confidence and I turn into a lobster in 2 hours.
Anyway, enough about sunburns. As my light sensitivity got worse, I talked to my mother about it and as it turns out, she has the same exact problem. Apparently, almost everyone on her side of the family has that problem. Which is one of the many reasons I believe I inherited vampirism from her side. More on that in a moment.
The other big thing I started noticing was the wonky electronics. Even my close friends noticed it. They would look at me whenever lights flickered that under normal circumstances never flickered. The light bulbs in my room and shared bathroom have to be replaced more often than any other place in the house, even though I have them turned off most of the time. Hell, there was even one time a bulb popped and went out, only to pop AGAIN and mysteriously turn back on two weeks later. I would be halfway through a shower and the light would just. Turn off. Fun times. Almost every electronic I own has gone wonky at least once, and my computer keeps getting small issues that just…can’t be fixed. Right now, my laptop’s issue is not syncing the clock correctly. Before that, it was not going to sleep when I closed the lid and would run itself out of battery in about ten minutes. I had a vape start firing randomly at 5am while it was just sitting on a shelf. Luckily, it woke me up and I quickly took the tank off and have never used that battery again. I now only buy the kind with removable, rechargeable batteries rather than internal batteries. I’m writing this post on miscrosoft word simply because I was two paragraphs in online when the page decided to just go “nope” even though my wifi is fine. Alas.
It wasn’t until well after I graduated and got out of the cult situation that I really started trying to figure out what was going on. Funnily enough, I actually figured it out through the “vampire community” because of the small smatterings of truth they presented to me. (cult info 101: say some true things to earn people’s trust and then start on the lying. I picked up on that within a few months of being there.) In this community I thought I had found people who were actually like me, only to be met with “psi vamps” and “sex vamps” (gods, why?!) and some stupid damn hierarchy within “Houses” and clans or whatnot. Now listen, I love Vampire: The Masquerade, but I also have enough brain cells to realize that it is FICTION. I couldn’t believe the amount of people that took ideas straight from that series and tried to pass them off as real. There were people who had absolutely no traits of a vampire as listed on this website who would claim to be vampires. I guess popping in some fake fangs makes you an official vampire nowadays. I have no problem with people who want to dress up as vampires and wear fangs and whatnot. The aesthetic is cool and I have a pair of fake fangs myself that I’ve worn for many different costumes…but there’s a line between dressing up as a vampire and dressing up to pretend to be one. C’mon. I was even told once that drinking blood wasn’t necessary and in fact archaic and that I should just switch to energy taking. Yeah I tried that, didn’t work obviously. I could rant all day about these people but I would never finish typing this damn post.
One of the other major things that tipped me off about my vampirism was the sheer ease of learning energy work. My first night of trying to do anything with it, I was able to create energy balls. So was my brother (who I think may also be vampiric as he shares a lot of the same traits with me, but he would never believe it). It came so easily to me that it was shocking to learn that my pagan friends struggled with the simplest of energy work. There were many instances of “how the hell do you do that?” “I don’t know…I just do it?”
People’s reaction to me is generally pretty strange. Most of the time they’re afraid of me until we actually get to talking and they realize I’m really just a dork, other times they’re not necessarily afraid but more confused. “I didn’t know what to think of you when I first met you…there’s just something weird about you.” I’m sure most of you have experienced this kind of reaction as well.
I pick things up very quickly, whether it’s academics or something physical. School has always been very easy to me and I advanced very quickly in martial arts, dance, and figure skating. Though, I can’t say I’m a runner. I’m more of a weight lifting kind of guy mixed with good balance and reflexes (hence the above sports and activities).
When I found Steve’s site it was entirely by accident, but I decided to start reading anyway. I was blown away. Everything made sense, there was no bullshit, no beating around the bush to spare feelings, no “vampirism is a magical thing and not a virus or genetic trait of any sort…it just happens randomly!” I VERY much enjoyed the information on endogenous retroviruses. Finally a valid, sensible explanation.
Feel free to ask me any questions, share events you’ve had that are similar to mine, etc. I probably left out quite a bit in my attempt at brevity. I ended up kinda pulling a Polonius so I’m gonna stop it here for now!
Great to be here!
